Eyvind Klewe is Manager Information Services of Iverships, which operates 24 tankers and chemical tankers of 15,000 dwt to 50,000 dwt. The company is half owned by Vroon of the Netherlands and half owned by Broström of Sweden. He is a member of the Intertanko IT-committee and chairman of MariNet.

Anders Utkilens Rederi is a family owned company operating out of Bergen specialising in transport of chemicals, various acids and clean products in Bulk in Northern Europe. It operates a fleet of 16 modern chemical tankers.

Tassos Makris is IS Director with Gourdomichalis Maritime, a shipmanagement company in Greece, which currently manages two Panamax bulk-carriers and four Handysize bulk-carriers trading under the Greek, Panamanian and Maltese flags.

Bjørn Berger is key account manager in DNV IT Solutions focusing on external sales of VerIT4Net. He has also been the responsible co-ordinator of MariNet project since January 2002. MariNet is a Norwegian initiative to test and develop new web based business concepts for the maritime industry. MariNet partners include Wilh. Wilhelmsen, Iver Ships, IUM Shipmanagement, DNV and Microsoft Norge.

Currently Maritime Business Manager for EMS Technologies, SATCOM Division Gregor has over twenty years experience in ship to shore communications and maritime IT. As founder and Managing Director of MCTS he was one of the pioneers of ship-to-shore email services in the mid 1980's.

During the 1990's Gregor held the position of Vice President, Operations at GN Comtext where he was responsible for developing and providing Telex, FAX and Email services for over 600 shipping companies worldwide. As a principal of the Maritime Communications Network (MCN) he has chaired a number of Digital Ship conferences on INMARSAT Fleet. In his current role he is responsible for maritime Business Development in EMS Technologies with particular emphasis on the Fleet 55 product range.

- using DVB/IP to achieve 512 kbps speeds at 125 euros per month using a stabilised TV antenna with simultaneous TV reception. Captain Lars Brodje is managing director of Telemar Scandinavia. He was previously marketing and business development manager of Inmarsat, leaving to establish Satpool Sweden in 1996, a maritime satellite communications company. He is an independent expert to the European Commission (DG INFSO), Visiting Professor at the World Maritime University, Chairman at the Swedish Institute of Maritime Education.

Per Erik Holmberg is general manager, information and communication technology with Broström. He is also chairman of the Swedish ship owner association's IT-committee. Broström has 61 tankers of 4,000 to 81,000 dwt, some through Iver Ships, in which it has a 50 per cent share.

Dr. Kennedy (Phd Naval Architect/Engineering) is the Technical Manager and IT manager for Hellespont Steamship, Greece. From 1999-2003 he spent 1/3 of his time in Korea building 4 double hull 442,000 dwt tankers.

These ships incorporate VENT2D (perl GPL at www.hellespont.com) which won Dr. Kennedy the Seatrade 2001 Safety at Sea award. Prior to Hellespont Dr. Kennedy was a business and IT consultant in shipping and industry. His database/process solutions are noted for their longevity.

Paul Østergaard is founder and CEO of ShipServ, which merged with merged with Seavantage and iShipExchange to become the world's leading supplier of online ship supply management solutions. The company also invented MTML, the standard electronic communications language for maritime purchasing.

Clients include Graig Shipping, Höegh Fleet Services, J Lauritzen, Neptune Shipmanagement, Norbulk Shipping and Tschudi and Eitzen, with purchasing handled for over 40 shipping companies which own / manage about 1,200 ships.

Paul Ashton is CEO of Athens ship software company Vector Maritime. He was previously managing director of SpecTec Ltd, covering UK, France, Middle East and Africa.

He has been an advisor for European Union marine transportation projects including Vessel Traffic Systems and technical standards group AP226; Group Project Leader for the development of the IMPA E-Commerce Standard. He is currently head of the MTML Technical Committee for the Maritime E-commerce Association.
