Dimitris Lyras is director of Lyras Shipping. He is vice-chairman of the Intertanko public relations committee and senior advisor to the board of Ulysses Systems. He is leading some of the world efforts to improve the image of the shipping industry and encourage a culture of continuous improvement. He is a qualified ship's engineer.

Captain Julian Brown, managing director, JCP Marine in Singapore
- An objective and commercially viable, rather than holistic and theoretical approach to TMSA
Captain Brown is an accredited OCIMF auditing inspector and has conducted vetting inspections for most of the oil majors. JCP Marine conducts oil major vetting and TMSA audits for major oil companies in Singapore. The company has offices in Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, and East Coast / Gulf Coast of the US. It has been involved in tanker vetting for oil companies since 1992.
9.35 Patrick Slesinger, chief information officer, Wallem Shipmanagement
- Using information technology as part of a TMSA implementation
Patrick Slesinger is chief information officer of the Wallem Group, which is headquartered in Hong Kong. Wallem is recognized as one of the leading shipping companies in its use of IT. Wallem Shipmanagement currently manages over 200 vessels, employing over 6,000 seafarers and shore based staff. Wallem's systems development division, DevCo, consists of over 60 IT professionals, specializing in Internet technologies and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) based systems that provide leading edge innovative solutions to the maritime industry. He is also the past chairman of the Intertanko IT Committee and a keen advocate of intra-industry information technology and software development collaboration.
9.55 Captain Paul Jones, general manager marine department, BW Shipping Managers

Captain Paul Jones is general manager marine department, BW Shipping Managers, the commercial and technical manager of BW Group's tanker fleet, including 23 VLCCs and 6 dry bulk vessels. The company employs 110 people at its head office Singapore. Captain Jones commenced his seagoing career as a cadet with Shell Tankers (UK) in 1974 and continued with Maersk (UK) and World-Wide Shipping, achieving command in 1992. After a further spell at sea as Master with Vela International Marine, he was offered a position ashore in 1996 and took up the role of fleet safety Officer with Vela in their new office in Dubai. In 2001 Mr Jones returned to World-Wide Shipping (now BW Shipping) as general manager of the marine department, with responsibility for all HSE matters, ISM / ISPS / ISO14001 certification, ship vetting, fleet training, marine equipment (evaluation and supply), emergency response issues in addition to general marine matters.
10.15 Capt Rajalingam, General Manager of Eagle Shipmanagement Pte Ltd
Capt Rajalingam is general manager, ship management of American Eagle Tankers. American Eagle Tankers currently own or operate a fleet of over 60, all of which are double-hulled and double-sided. There are no single-hulled tankers in its fleet. It is reputed to be the second largest owner operator of Afframax fleet in the world. Over the last three years, the fleet has grown from 31 to over 60 vessels, including 44 Aframax and 8 VLCCs. AET's newbuilding program includes Aframax and VLCC on order for delivery in the next 5 years.

Captain Ashok Sabnis is managing director of TESMA Singapore. TESMA has 83 vessels in technical management, and 35 of those are managed out of Singapore. The Singapore managed fleet includes 10 OBOs, 8 LPG carriers, 12 chemical tankers, 3 VLCCs, 1 bulk carrier, 1 tanker.

Capt Amarjit S Kauchhur is marine manager / marine safety quality and security, International Tanker Management Holding Ltd (ITM). ITM won the award for "Ship Manager of the year" at the inaugural Lloyd's list Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards ceremony held in Dubai on November 2005. On full management it has 9 Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC), 5 Suezmax tankers, 3 Aframax tankers, 9 Product /chemical carriers, 2 OBO's, 2 handy size bulk Carriers, 4 medium range product tankers . On post-fixture management it has 16 chemical tankers, 3 LPG and 5 Product tankers. For future takeover it has 12 chemical tankers and 4 LPG.

Mr Karrah K Kumar is senior fleet general manager, NYK Shipmanagement, based in Singapore, part of Japanese NYK Group, Japan's largest shipping company, which owns and operates 660 vessels, including container ships, semi container vessels, bulk carriers, wood chip carriers, car carriers, reefer carriers, tankers, gas carriers and cruise ships.

Shipmanagers perspective on TMSA - how good it will eventually be - experiences on TMSA to date - the change it will bring about - issues that need reconsideration and a relook management of change and risk assessment.
Capt R. Janardhanan is QHSE manager, Anglo Eastern Singapore. Anglo Eastern GROUP performs full technical management on around 185 vessels, handling crew management for a further 77. The Singapore office manages the tanker and gas fleet. AESM scored top in 2003 out of all Asian shipping companies with the lowest per cent age of port state control inspectors recording deficiencies and continues to do so until today, AESM claims. www.aesm.com

Capt Mohd Azmi Ahmad is senior manager Health Safety Security Environment, Fleet Management Services, Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad. MISC is the leading international shipping line of Malaysia, and a specialist in the carriage of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). With 18 LNG carriers, it is currently the world’s largest single owner/operator of LNG fleet. It is also a large carrier of vegetable oils from South East Asia, including palm oil from Malaysia. It has a fleet of 15 chemical and parcel tankers of between 8,000 – 32,000 dwt. MISC acquired American Eagle Tankers in July 2003.
2.30 Stephen Ainscough, fleet manager, ASP Tanker Management, Singapore Challenges of planned maintenance / experience of oil company audits
ASP Group is based in Australia and has fleet management offices based in UK, Norway, Finland, India, Singapore, Australia and Germany, each managing about 50 vessels. It recently formed a specialist tanker management division, ASP Tanker Management Ltd, with offices in Australia, Singapore and Finland.

Capt. Anuj Sahai is marine business manager, Lloyd's Register Asia, one of the world's largest class societies.
