Pemex tanker seeks towage support in high winds

Feb 27 2020

Pemex tanker Mariano Abasolo requested support to tow it to port, but it could not be provided, due to waves of 5-7 feet and 60kph winds, according to a report in Mexican news service La Jornada (via Google Translate).

The incident happened overnight Feb 21.

The vessel was reported to be close to the beach. It is offshore Coatzacoalcos, in the state of Veracruz, Mexico.

An update on Feb 23 said the tanker managed to move to an anchorage away from the coast, under its own power or assisted by tugs.
