PSM helps Terasaki with retrofit project

Mar 29 2018

PSM Instrumentation was recently approached by the Singapore division of partners, Terasaki, who was awarded a contract to undertake an upgrade of the machinery control and monitoring system on board the Iranian managed, 1997-built, 19,100 dwt chemical tanker ’Caspia’.

During the installation phase it became apparent that the originally installed radar transmitters were not working and in need of urgent replacement.

PSM quickly identified that the Scanrad radar transmitter would provide an ideal replacement, together with custom made adaptors for mounting and specifically produced protection hoses and glanding to suit existing connections.

Terasaki confirmed the order and PSM manufactured the entire package within a week, enabling the equipment to meet the vessel at her first port of call after the retrofit.

The radar transmitters were then installed and commissioned while the vessel was en-route to its first loading terminal post refit. The vessel owners are now considering similar upgrades to the monitor systems on other vessels in the fleet.
