Two killed following Aframax explosion

Two people were reported killed and 11 injured in an explosion and fire on board an Aframax at Tuzla.

According to local media reports, the incident occurred on board the Hong Kong-flagged LR2 ‘LR2 Poseidon’ while she was in for repair.

It was thought that the explosion occurred in the ship’s boiler room during the afternoon of 28th January.

A fire fighting team was sent to the scene and extinguished the fire later that day.

The local prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.

The 2009-built tanker is owned by Hong Kong-based Cido Shipping and she arrived at Tuzla on 22nd January.
