Naming and launching of Thun Empower

Aug 02 2021

On Tuesday July 27, Thun Empower was launched in an online event where she was named by Godmother Katharina Stanzel, Managing Director at Intertanko.

Thun Empower is the fourth product tanker, powered by gas, completing our series of E-class vessels being built by Scheepswerf Ferus Smit B.V. Thun Empower will operate for Thun Tankers within the Gothia Tanker Alliance.

Thun Tankers is part of the Erik Thun Group, a company owned by the Källsson family since 1938.

For decades we have designed increasingly economic and energy efficient quality ships, using in-house knowledge to provide our customers with sustainable and cost efficient transport solutions.

The E-class series is a real example of our vision to be a sustainable Swedish partner over generations, says Johan Källsson, Managing Director at Erik Thun AB.

 – The Thun Empower represents what shipping does best, beautifully modern and technologically advanced, bringing together the best of many partners, says Katharina Stanzel, MD, Intertanko before naming the vessel.

Thun Empower, that meets and exceeds future climate regulations already today, is a leap forward in our long term vision towards climate neutral shipping, says Joakim Lund, CCO at Thun Tankers BV.

 – MF Shipping together with Erik Thun have worked closely to design the vessel of tomorrow, adds Karin Orsel, CEO at MF Shipping Group, the technical manager of the vessel.
