EC clears Maersk tankers acquisition

Mar 23 2018

The European Commission (EC) has approved the acquisition of joint control over Maersk Product Tankers by APMH Invest and Mitsui & Co, under the EU Merger Regulation.

APMH Invest is a holding company with interests in banking, infrastructure and financial investments in fixed income and securities, while Mitsui & Co is pursuing business ranging from product sales, worldwide logistics and financing through to the development of major infrastructure and other projects.

The EC said it had concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns because of the limited impact it would have on the market.

The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
