Top Considerations for Ammonia Bunkering

As the use of alternative fuels continues to evolve in the maritime industry, ammonia remains a key contender due to its zero-carbon fuel properties and ability to be produced from renewable and sustainable sources. Ammonia bunkering, either by truck, ship or land storage terminal, will play a key role in the rise of ammonia production and utilization.

The ABS Ammonia Bunkering: Technical and Operational Advisory considers the aspects of bunkering ammonia as a fuel, providing the maritime industry with a better understanding of the challenges involved and how best to address them. This publication also provides guidance on addressing the technical and operational challenges for both the delivering ship (or land-side sources) and the receiving ship involved in bunkering operations, including critical design issues, regulatory compliance, risk assessments, safe practices and emergency procedures.
