Marine Dept detains two tankers involved in collision off Johor coast

Both vessels caught fire as a result of the collision and the starboard anchor chain of the one tankers broke, causing the ship to drift

KUALA LUMPUR: Tankers MT Hafnia Nile and MT Ceres 1 have been detained to assist the investigation following their collision 25 nautical miles northeast of Tanjung Balau, Johor on July 19.
 
Malaysian Marine Department director-general Captain Mohamad Halim Ahmed said the case was being investigated under the Merchant Shipping Ordinance (MSO) 1952/60.
