Arcadia’s Suezmaxes to join Green Award

Oct 28 2016

The first of the newly built Arcadia Shipmanagement Suezmaxes, ‘Aegean Marathon’, has received a Green Award certificate.

Five more newbuildings will also be prepared for certification.

Arcadia Shipmanagement took delivery of ‘Aegean Marathon’ in May of this year and immediately submitted the vessel for certification.

Arcadia said that remained committed to having its whole fleet in the Green Award scheme and confirmed that it intended to have all six newbuildings put through an audit.

‘Aegean Marathon’ gained a high score and not a single comment was issued, Green Award said.

Jan Fransen, Green Award executive director, said; “Arcadia Shipmanagement is a unique certificate holder. They have been participating in the Green Awards scheme with their whole fleet for 12 years. Their devotion to keeping the sea clean and care for people are remarkable. Our audits of Arcadia Shipmanagement show constant high quality and continuous improvement. In this time of an economic downturn, it is great to see ships of such top quality delivered.”

Meanwhile, Arcadia’s second newbuilding Suezmax, ‘Aegean Dream’, was recently presented for a certification audit.
