The FPSO industry is in a major growth phase, with orders for between 90 and 240
new FPSOs expected to be placed in the next 5 years, at a cost of between $200m
and $2bn each. Two thirds of these are expected to be tanker conversions and one
third from new build. There are currently around 200 FPSOs in service. This creates
many business opportunities for tanker operators and companies with tanker skills
and expertise.
