The vessels will be fitted with Ecochlor systems.
A previous contract with STI involving 12 tankers of the ‘Duchessa’ class is already underway as engineering design and shipyard installation packages for the ‘STI Duchessa’ and ‘STI Opera’ were recently completed.
John Dooley, Choice President, said, “Today’s announcement with Scorpio Tankers solidifies our position in this market place as an industry leader offering an expertise in the integration installation for the total range of ballast water treatment technologies. Working with Scorpio Tankers on their fleet of tankers will allow us to maximise the talents of our engineers and focus on efficiencies that will drive better timelines while reducing the cost of each installation.”
“This is a strong strategic fit for both companies. Working on multiple retrofit projects will allow us to control the resources necessary to ensure a quick, smooth drydock period with a focus on streamlining each individual BWMS installation. We are pleased with the initial services provided by Choice and look forward to our continued partnership on these projects,” said Emanuele Lauro, STI Chairman and CEO.
