CSM signs up to ECDIS Ltd training package

Feb 15 2019

Columbia Shipmanagement (CSM) has chosen ECDIS Ltd’s online ECDIS competency assurance training course to be rolled out across the whole fleet.

Also included is an offline version, where the training course is downloaded allowing vessel’s crew to complete the course in their own time.

Capt Fradi, CSM’s Crewing and Training Manager, remarked; “During our safe transition to digital navigation, we complete as much training as possible to support our officers, from generic, to type specific and familiarisation and even further with this competency assurance package.

“It is a great service that allows crews to gain additional training and certification anywhere at any time,” he added.

The non-profit certificated 1.27 generic package is priced at £200 per vessel regardless of crew numbers, and in 2019 incorporates the Port State Control and Inspection preparation package, including training and testing on all Inspectors questions.

This package is used by thousands of seafarers and has dramatically increased standards by consolidating all training in one download, ECDIS Ltd claimed.
