Danish Shipping unveils new organisation

Nov 24 2017

Danish Shipping has addressed a number of areas, which will become more important for the representation of interests and member services in the coming years.

The organisation said that it will focus more on research policy, digitalisation, qualifications and training policy in the coming years, in addition to its existing priorities.

The first steps have already been taken with an educational programme introduced and the creation of the Maritime Disruptors Academy, which will be held in January and February, 2018.

The next step is a new organisation and management structure, which was due to become effective today (24th November, 2017).

A new department for Business Development and Communication has been set up, which executive director Jakob Ullegård will take charge. Here, the focus will be on the political aspects of areas, such as research, education and transport, and not least development of Danish Shipping’s own programmes under the auspices of the Danish Shipping Academy. Ullegård will continue to be responsible for communication and the press in close collaboration with head of media relations, Rasmus Bebe.

"We must continuously ensure that we have the organisation and the skills needed to represent our members' interests. This requires that we strengthen our focus on selected areas, which is now also reflected in our organisation, " explained director general and CEO, Anne Steffensen.

In addition, executive director Anne Trolle will continue to be responsible for employment conditions, recruitment and training, including the specific implementation of the educational package that Danish Shipping, among other things, has contributed to in relation to the growth team's work, and which the shipping industry would like to see being a pillar in the government's forthcoming maritime growth plan.

Current deputy director Jacob Clasen has been appointed executive director with responsibility for the politics and analysis department, which will deal with taxes, business law and trade policy. He joins Danish Shipping’s management team.

Deputy director Maria Skipper has been appointed executive director and will continue to be at the head of security, environment and maritime research.

"I am very pleased that we can promote two important pillars in our organisation. Danish Shipping has already benefited from having Maria as part of our management team for the last three years. Jacob has had many years of work in the organisation and is widely recognised in the shipping industry for his efforts. I look forward to Jacob becoming a part of the management team who shall fight for good framework conditions for our business," Steffensen said.
