‘I love you, darling’: Last message captain of capsized South Korean tanker sent to wife

One of the 11 crew members is still missing, and the Japan Coast Guard is continuing its search.

SEOUL - Moments before his ship capsized in rough seas off Japan’s west coast on March 20, the captain of a South Korean chemical tanker sent a message to his wife. “I love you, darling,” the message read. The captain, who was in his 60s, was among the nine crew members later found dead out of the ship’s crew of 11, with one still missing.
