Nordic Tankers Trading is to create a new company in partnership with V.Group.

This move is aimed at securing efficient growth and investment in its Copenhagen-based shipmanagement operations, the company said.

The new company will be created on the back of Nordic Tankers’ current operations with the core team being retained to ensure continuity and commitment to safety, operational excellence and service.

Nordic Tankers’ COO Carsten Brix Ostenfeldt will be the managing director of the new company, tol be called Dania Ship Management. It will be based at Nordic Tankers’ Copenhagen headquarters.

The partnership with V.Group will support future delivery of quality management to vessels and enable a robust response to the increasing demand towards shipmanagement in this highly specialised sector, Nordic Tankers said.

Dania Ship Management will be incorporated in line with the Danish Tonnage Scheme provisions to offer local shipmanagement with access to V.Group’s specialist global shipmanagement capabilities and experience in the operations of chemical tankers and other sophisticated vessels.

Per Sylvester Jensen, Nordic Tankers Trading CEO, said: “We are very excited to partner with V.Group to safeguard and further expand our business. With our shared commitment to safety, efficiency and quality, I am confident that with our local market knowledge and V.Group’s global expertise we will be in a strong position to pro-actively respond to the increasing requirements of the international shipping sector.

“Dania Ship Management will have access to V.Group’s specialist skills within their group portfolio, including extensive investment in IT platforms, which is an important requirement in the digitalisation of our industry,” he said.

Clive Richardson, CEO V.Group, said: “Partnering with Nordic Tankers provides V.Group the opportunity to not only offer our specialist shipmanagement expertise in Scandinavia for sophisticated vessels, but also continue to invest in our wider marine services in this region. With V.Group’s global footprint and technical expertise and Nordic Tankers’ local market knowledge this partnership is in line with our growth strategy.”

Anne Steffensen, director general, Danish Shipowners’ Association (DSA) welcomed the partnership: “This is a positive example of investment in Denmark’s shipping industry. It also demonstrates the ability of the Danish maritime cluster to attract investment and talent. Both are important ingredients in keeping the ‘Blue Denmark’ agile and competitive. ”
