STS conference to be held in Athens

Jan 19 2018

The next in the series of annual International Forum of STS (IFSTS) conferences, organised by DYNAMARINe, is to be held in Athens on 7th March.

Entitled ‘New Developments, Quality Standards and Best Practices on Ship-to-Ship Operations - The Tanker Operators' Perspective’ - this conference follows the successful IFSTS 16 and IFSTS 17 held in London with Clyde & Co.

DYNAMARINe said that 2018 will be a year of changes and planning globally, as far as ship-to-ship (STS) transfer operations are concerned. The need for refined products for developing countries through an efficient downstream distribution, establishes STS operations as one of the most efficient techniques amongst oil majors, traders and local receivers.

STS operations is a global mean of fuel and gas transportation and the need of preserving high safety standards is apparently not only a focus, but also a priority for tanker operators who bare the liability.

In the International Forum of STS 2018 @ Athens, we plan to support and discuss initiatives and best practices on international developments on STS, DYNAMARINe said.

New global developments create the need for the establishment of new uncharted STS locations and the need for local infrastructure. This forum will present the current industry’s status on location assessment and new requirements for STS location approval by Tanker Operators.

In addition, the quality standards on STS service providers, best practices and lessons learned from stakeholders, including tanker operators, will be presented with emphasis placed on measures that ensure healthy and sustainable competition that may improve safety standards of the STS service providers.

Case studies and best practices from Mooring Masters and the perspective from oil majors/charterers/traders will be also in the agenda.

Finally, manufacturers of STS equipment will present new developments and maintenance standards.
