To identify opportunities of significant value to Wallem Group in the Chinese shipmanagement market, the company has appointed Mingfa Liu to the newly established role of managing director, Wallem Ship Management China.
Mingfa has good experience and knowledge in the Chinese shipyard sector and an in-depth understanding of the needs of the Chinese shipowner market.
He will concentrate on Wallem’s relationships with shipyards and drydocks in China, and represent Wallem’s shipmanagement and technical services to the country’s large number of shipowners.
Speaking of the appointment, Wallem Group CEO Simon Doughty said; “We have the opportunity to provide a wider range of maritime solutions to clients, and build a stronger local client base in China.
“Wallem was established in Shanghai in 1903, and to day our presence includes a well-established agency network and a shipbroking office, and we are one of the largest foreign employers of Chinese seafarers,”he said.

Previously, Mingfa sailed as a marine engineer before coming ashore to work in the shipmanagement industry. His management career has developed through senior roles in Hong Kong, UK and China and most recently included the senior management position in China for a leading global tanker owner.
