Milazzo tanker movements disrupted

Oct 03 2014

Extensive disruption to tanker movements at Milazzo, on the northeast coast of Sicily, was caused by last week’s fire at Eni and Kuwait Petroleum’s jointly owned oil refinery at the port.

The incident is thought to have been caused by flames that broke out on the roof of a 5,000 litre tank containing gasoline, Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) said.

Milazzo’s terminal tanks were affected by the incident and all berthing/unberthing operations were suspended at the beginning of this week.

No injuries were reported and firefighters have since brought the fire under control.

Tanker movements resumed on 1st October, ISS reported.
